From Our Kitchen

Usually when you buy a very lean cut of meat, it tends to be dry, chewy and greatly lacking in flavor.  At American Ultra Lean Beef Products Co., we are committed to proving that saturated fat and marbeling in beef is not necessary to have a great beef eating experience. You will be amazed with our beef that is ultra low in fat, how tender, juicy, and delicious it is.

Superb breeding and handling of our beef make this possible, but it also takes correct cooking techniques for very lean meat:

  1. We recommend that you thaw your beef products in your refrigerator in the original packaging.  Do not use the microwave to thaw your meat.
  2. Keep in mind when frying or grilling our meats, it is best to use a thin layer of olive or canola oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Our steaks and roasts need to be cooked quickly at high heat. Simply brown both sides as fast as possible and remove from heat or move to a lower temperature until the meat is ten degrees less than the desired temperature. At this time you will want to take the meat off the heat source because a very lean cut of meat will hold its temperature and continue to cook.  Make sure to use a thermometer that is specifically made for meat.
  4. In the case of our sausages and ground beef we have taken our beef trim and infused just the right amount of canola oil to add a richness of taste and texture as well as healthy amounts of essential omega 3 fatty acids.
  5. When grilling your meat or sausages do not use forks or knives to handle the meat.  Punctures can cause all the valuable juices to be lost.  Handle your meat with tongs.

There are many ways to change your eating habits to promote better health.  Here are a few things you can change easily while enjoying our products:

  • Always use a healthy oil to cook with such as Canola and Olive Oil.  If a recipe asks for cooking oil, vegetable, or corn oils, you can substitute these healthier oils.
  • Use whole wheat or whole grain versions of Hamburger or Hotdog buns.

      Patties

  • Use our ground beef or fajita strips in your favorite pizza, taco or chili recipe.

  • When available use low fat versions of cheese, sour cream and other fats.
  • Enjoy our beef sliced thinly on your salad using healthy greens and locally grown vegetables with a low fat version of your favorite salad dressing.

  • For a healthy snack anytime, or for your next party, use our beef summer sausage with multi grain crackers and low fat cheese.

  • Use an opportunity to pack nutrients into recipes like meatloaf or meatballs.  You can add so many different items to this kind of recipe.  For example, instead of plain breadcrumbs or crackers substitute rolled oats, whole grain cereals, wheat germ, multi grain bread or cracker crumbs.  For the liquid use any or all of these extras: add canned tomatoes with the juice,  low fat versions of your favorite cheese, smash canned beans into a paste, or add fruits or vegetables like unsweetened applesauce, torn spinach, finely diced carrots, onions, peppers, or squash.   The extra flavors and textures will really make a tired old recipe brand new.
